News item: K-9 schools benefit students of all ages

With 11 new schools opening in 2017 and talks continuing in mature communities about new and modernized buildings, we’re preparing to welcome thousands more students into K-9 schools in the coming years.

Families who haven’t experienced an elementary-junior high school often have questions about how a K-9 community can benefit students who range in age from four to 15 years old.

But parents, school staff and students who join those K-9 communities report many benefits – extra years to build a strong school community, an easier transition to junior high and high school, more opportunities for staff collaboration, opportunities for younger students to participate in more robust music and sports programs, leadership opportunities for teens, and much more.

Here’s a look at what K-9 schools offer for students and families.
