At its regularly scheduled meeting on November 26, the Edmonton Public Schools Board of Trustees ratified a new contract for the District’s teachers and principals.
Teachers and principals had already approved the deal in a vote taken on October 27 where members of the bargaining unit voted in favour of accepting the Memorandum.
The agreement, which runs from September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2016, includes specific requirements (e.g., salary increases, term of agreement) outlined in the March 15, 2013 Provincial Framework Agreement and Bill 26, Assurance for Students Act.
The four-year agreement allows for the following salary increases:
“Our board is pleased with the agreement we have reached with our teachers,” says Board Chair Sarah Hoffman. “This agreement will provide our District and our teachers with stability over the coming years, so we can continue the important work of teaching and learning,” says Hoffman.
