Description

The successful candidates for these full-time, 10-month temporary positions will provide liaison services that support First Nations, Métis and Inuit students.  Students are between the ages of 2 ½ and 5 ½ and have severe developmental delays or disabilities.   As the ideal candidate, you will work collaboratively with community resources and various other stakeholders to assist families and students to ensure that each child reaches their full potential.

ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • a diploma in a related field
  • one year related experience
  • broad understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures
  • valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The School Family Liaison will:

  • develop relationships with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students and their families
  • provide parenting support through counseling, parent visits or community referrals
  • provide ongoing emotional support and communicate with families through family visits, emails and regular telephone calls
  • book and/or attend appointments with families to external agencies
  • arrange cultural and language support for students and school staff
  • facilitate supports for students as they transition to grade one
