How to register
Step 1 - download the registration form (1.2 MB) and The EPSB FOIP Declaration
Step 2 - fill it out and print it
Step 3 - sign it
Step 4 - bring to the school of your choice:
- the printed and signed registration form
- appropriate documentation
What is "appropriate documentation?"
Schools require two documents:
- Verification of legal name and age (usually a birth certificate)
- Confirmation of the parent's/guardian's address (driver's licence, utility bill)
In some cases, immigration documents will also be needed.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, the district is authorized and required under the provisions of the School Act and its regulations to collect and use the personal information necessary to provide an educational program and ensure a safe and secure school environment for students. Before you register
Early registration helps students in their planning for the next school year. It also gives schools the chance to make plans based on the number of students they will expect to welcome in the fall. Please consider the following points before registering:
If your child is continuing at the same school, please fill out a passport provided by the school Principal.

How do I register my child for Kindergarten?
Children who are four years of age on or before March 1, 2010, may register in Kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year.
A parent or guardian needs to present some legal proof of the child's name, citizenship and birth date the first time that the child registers in a school or kindergarten. The following is a list of vital statistics documents that are deemed acceptable for this purpose:
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Canadian Citizenship Certificate
- Canadian Adoption Certificate
- Canadian Marriage Certificate
- Passport
- Visa
- Permanent Landed Immigrant/Residence Document
Registering a student who is new to the district
A parent/guardian or independent student (a student who is 16 or 17 and who is living independently) must fill out the district registration form. Their signature on this form is vitally important. The form is used to enter information on school SIS, and is kept in the student record once the student has been registered.
The parent/guardian or independent student must provide verification of the student's legal name and age. A student's birthdate and legal name should be verified using the following documents:
- Alberta birth certificate
- Canadian birth certificate
- Vital Statistics document
- Canadian citizenship document
- Passport
- Student Visa
- Landed immigrant document (permanent Residency Card)
