Eligibility and Conditional Riders

Determining eligibility for yellow busing

Eligibility for yellow bus service is determined by where a student lives. Find your designated school by entering your home address into the Find a School tool. View the detailed map on any school page to see yellow bus services.

Students who are enrolled in their designated school and live:

  • within the walk boundary (usually about 2.4km) are not eligible for yellow bus service
  • outside of the walk boundary may be eligible for service

Conditional riders

Conditional riders are students who are not eligible for regular or alternative program yellow bus service but request to ride on an existing route if there is space on the bus. Apply to be a conditional rider by completing an application form at your child's school.

Conditional rider applicants are considered and assigned to a bus route only after all eligible students have already been assigned. Most conditional applicants are approved before the school year begins, but some may be approved as late as October. Alternate transportation plans should be made in case a conditional rider applicant is not approved or approved after the school year begins.

Conditional riders are not permitted to ride on special education needs curb service buses.
