Schools With Entrance Criteria

Four district schools require students to submit an application to make sure they meet criteria for a school's instructional focus or programming.

Schools with entrance criteria include:

SCHOOL PROGRAM WITH ENTRANCE CRITERIA FOR THESE GRADES
Crestwood Academic Alternative Program Junior High
Grandview Heights Academic Alternative Program Junior High
Old Scona    Academic Alternative Program Senior High
Victoria Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts Program Elementary and
Junior High

If you’re applying to a program at school with entrance criteria:

  • contact the school to learn more about the programs and grades with criteria and the application process
  • submit your application to the school before February 27, 2017
  • expect to hear if you have or have not met the entrance criteria by April 7, 2017
  • have other options in mind in case you're not selected to attend your first choice school

Students Who Don’t Meet Criteria

You will be notified if your child does not meet entrance criteria no later than April 7, 2017. Students who don’t meet entrance criteria can attend their designated school, or any other District school, as long as the school has space. Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account to complete pre-enrolment with their second choice school. Learn more about completing pre-enrolment before the deadline at 4 p.m. on April 18.

Students Who Meet Criteria

If you are notified that your child does meet entrance criteria and you would like your child to attend the school, you don’t need to complete pre-enrolment in SchoolZoneThe school with entrance criteria will email you to confirm your acceptance.

If you are notified that your child does meet entrance criteria, but you no longer want them to attend, sign in to your parent SchoolZone to complete pre-enrolment with their second choice school. Learn more about completing pre-enrolment before the deadline at 4 p.m. on April 18.

If the number of students who meet the school’s entrance criteria exceeds the available space, applicants from outside the school’s attendance area will be chosen by random selection.
