About Sakaw School

At Sakaw School, we provide the opportunity for all students to achieve excellence, develop a strong sense of self-worth and develop good work habits, attitudes and social skills. Our school provides the regular Kindergarten to Grade 6 program as well as a program for students in Grades 1 to 6 with mild cognitive delays and an Early Learning program. We are an APPLE school, promoting healthy choices, as well as a Leader in Me school.

Sakaw school borders a large park that has a number of baseball and soccer fields, a community league ice rink is next to the school and there is an adventure playground close by.

We believe:

  • In helping students become responsible and co-operative citizens who are prepared to lead productive lives with people of all races, religions and nationalities

SCHOOL NAME

Sakaw (Sakâw) means “it is a wooded area” in Cree.
