School councils provide the framework for families, principals, staff and community members to work together to support student achievement and success. Each person who takes the time to be involved in their school council or parent group plays a key role in the success of their school community. At the district level, we are here to support school councils and parent groups and provide opportunities for involvement and feedback.

As mandated by Alberta Education in the School Act, school council chairs must prepare and provide an annual report to the Edmonton Public School Board by September 30 of each year. It is recommended the report be completed by the end of June so that the current school council members are still in the school community and available to contribute to the report.
