Big Lake High School Redesignation

ATTENDANCE AREA REDESIGNATION

Parents, families and community members were invited to attend a drop-in information session in November 2018 to discuss a proposed redesignation for Grades 10-12 for the Big Lake area.

The neighbourhoods affected include:

  • Hawk's Ridge
  • Starling
  • Trumpeter

HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AREA REDESIGNATION DECISION

Effective for the 2019-20 school year, the Hawks Ridge, Starling and Trumpeter neighbourhoods will be redesignated to Jasper Place School for Grades 10 to 12.

REASON FOR THE CHANGE

Redesignating these neighbourhoods to Jasper Place School means students can transition to high school with their peers from David Thomas King School.

CHOOSING TO REMAIN AT YOUR CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL

Students who currently attend Ross Sheppard School, which is the current designated high school for these neighbourhoods, can still attend if they choose to. Siblings would also be able to attend, as long as an older sibling is currently attending Ross Sheppard School and both students will be attending the school in 2019-20.

GETTING TO SCHOOL

For students who will attend Jasper Place School:

  • Yellow bus service may be available if Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) does not meet District standards.

For students choosing to remain at Ross Sheppard School:
