PROPOSED ATTENDANCE AREA REDESIGNATION

We are considering the possibility of redesignating the Ebbers neighbourhood for the 2018–19 school year.

REASONS FOR THE PROPOSED CHANGE

The proposed change would allow students living in Ebbers to:

Kirkness School has room to accommodate students from the Ebbers area.

CHOOSING TO REMAIN AT YOUR CURRENT SCHOOL

Once a student enrols at a school, they can continue to attend that school. This means students attending McLeod School can choose to stay. Siblings of these students would also be able to attend, if families choose to stay at their current school.

YELLOW BUS SERVICE

If the redesignation is approved, McLeod School would no longer be the designated school for the Ebbers area. Only eligible students who attend their designated school receive yellow bus service.

This means students from the Ebbers neighbourhood attending Kirkness School would be eligible for yellow bus service.

TIMELINES

If the proposed redesignation is approved, the change would be in effect for the 2018-19 school year.

We'll make a final decision on the proposed redesignation by the end of January, before pre-enrolment begins. We’ll share information with families once a decision is made.
