News item: Share feedback on junior high academic programming

Edmonton Public Schools has begun a review of academic programming offered in Grades 7–9.

As a Division, we are committed to providing equitable, accessible, consistent academic programming to our junior high students. We believe there are opportunities to create greater alignment and consistency in the junior high academic programming we offer.

REVIEW PURPOSE

This review is of junior high academic programming only. We are not reviewing any high school programming or philosophy-based programming such as Cogito.

Our goal is to develop a new academic program to replace Pre-Advanced Placement in the 2022–23 school year. Through the new program, students will continue to prepare for academic programming in high school, such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate.

SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK

To help inform the development of a new program, we are seeking feedback from families, students and staff from February 16 to 28, 2021.

If you or your child has experience with or is considering taking academic programming in junior high, tell us what’s important to you.
