Choice in Special Education

Once your child's needs have been determined, you can make an appointment with the principal at your child’s designated school to talk about the options available.

You can choose to enrol your child in:

  • regular program at your designated school, which is the guaranteed point of entry for students and the first option considered and discussed with parents.
  • A specialized program at select schools where students are placed in the same classrooms to receive similar supports and services, if there is room available.
  • An alternative program at select schools, if there is room available.

Regardless of the learning environment you choose, your child will have access to classroom and extracurricular opportunities, effective teaching and appropriate resources to help them reach their full potential.
