Transportation and COVID-19

We are continuing to take steps in the 2021-22 school year to make sure the bus riding experience is a safe one for everyone.

Bus drivers will be provided with a seating plan. Students will be asked to sit in a specific seat when they board the bus.

Many bus routes include students from multiple schools. This means students may be seated with individuals from the same household or with another student from a stop nearby.

Families are encouraged to consider other transportation options if they are not comfortable with their child riding the yellow bus with other children.

Students and others boarding the bus are able to make their own decisions about whether wearing a mask on the yellow bus is right for them and those decisions should be respected.

Students and staff should continue to use the daily COVID-19 checklist to screen for illness and follow the province’s mandatory isolation requirements.

Students riding ETS are required to wear a mask or face covering on public transit. Learn more about wearing masks on public transit or visit ETS for more information.

The bus will be cleaned according to COVID-19 cleaning standards prior to each run, and this cleaning will be recorded by the carrier.

Route schedules have been adjusted to allow time for cleaning when a bus is required to make multiple trips. During the first few weeks of school, Student Transportation will monitor routes to identify where schedule adjustments may be required.
