Read our COVID-19 Division Re-entry Strategy for information about how we’re welcoming students and staff back into schools this September.
Montrose School provides a positive, inclusive environment that ensures quality teaching and engaging learning experiences for students. We offer full-day Kindergarten to Grade 6 programming enhanced with a comprehensive literacy program that includes best practices in Literacy, Guided Reading, Literacy Intervention, and Writing Workshop (Lucy Calkins).
Students in Grades 4 to 6 are offered French as a Second Language. We are also a Division site for the Behavior and Learning Assistance program in division one and division two. All students are provided with music instruction and are offered the opportunity to participate in a fiddling program.
We have strong partnerships with community agencies and we are an All in for Youth school. This means we can provide extra supports to our students and families. As an All In For Youth school, students have the opportunity to participate in activities such as in-school mentoring, corporate business mentoring, Hockey HEROES and after-school activities. Families and students can access supports from our mental health therapist, Roots & Wings worker and/or our Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentorship Coordinator. We also work school-wide with students and staff on emotional regulation strategies.
