Montrose School provides a positive, inclusive environment that ensures quality teaching and engaging learning experiences for students. We offer full-day Kindergarten to Grade 6 programming enhanced with a comprehensive literacy program that includes best practices in Literacy, Guided Reading and Writing Workshop (Lucy Calkins). French as a Second Language is offered in Grades 4 to 6. We also provide Behavior and Learning Assistance programming in Division one and Division two.
All students receive music instruction and the opportunity to participate in a fiddling program. We have strong partnerships with community agencies and we are an All in for Youth school. This means we can provide extra supports to our students and families. As an All In For Youth school, students have the opportunity to participate in activities such as in-school mentoring, corporate business mentoring, Hockey HEROES and after-school activities.
Due to Covid-19, Hockey Heroes and after-school activities are currently not running. Families and students can access supports from our mental health therapist, Roots & Wings worker and/or our Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentorship Coordinator. We also work school-wide with students and staff on emotional regulation strategies.
