News item: SchoolZone pilot launches for 2017-18 school year

Edmonton Public Schools is testing a new version of SchoolZone throughout 2017-18. Parents, staff and students from 17 schools will be the first to experience the new design and share their feedback.

WHAT IS SCHOOLZONE?

Since 2006, SchoolZone has been Edmonton Public Schools’ main online tool for supporting communication between schools and families. This secure portal gives parents access to important news and student information.

PILOT LAUNCH

Parents, students and staff from schools involved in the pilot can sign in at schoolzone-pilot.epsb.ca.

They can look forward to:

  • a site that works on desktops, smartphones and tablets
  • finding information faster and easier
  • getting specific notifications about what’s new
  • access to SchoolZone’s classic key features—like homework, attendance records and progress reports

The year-long pilot allows for further testing, and adjusting the features and design before a redesigned SchoolZone launches District-wide next year.

WHAT’S NEXT?

In spring 2018, participating families and staff will have an opportunity to share their feedback and ideas on how to improve SchoolZone.
