Student artists from Edmonton Public Schools and Edmonton Catholic Schools had their artwork unveiled on June 16 at the opening celebration of the Shaw Conference Centre’s 2014 pARTnership Gallery.
Now in its fifth year, this annual event showcases a collaborative partnership between the two Edmonton school districts and the Shaw Conference Centre. The Shaw Conference Centre opened the the pARTnership Gallery opened in 2010 as their further commitment to public art, student growth and community engagement.
Sixty pieces of student artwork will be featured for an entire year in the convention centre’s high traffic pedway level hallway where it will be seen by half a million visitors. This gallery is also a venue for the The Works Art and Design Festival, which runs June 19 to July 1 at various locations throughout the city.
“This provides us with an opportunity to recognize excellence in the arts,” says Edmonton Public Board Chair Sarah Hoffman. “The amazing artistic talents of our students are a source of pride and admiration for our Board and entire District.”
