Division Awards
Each year, we proudly recognize and celebrate the excellence and success of Grade 12 students across the Division with:
- the Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence
- six other award categories representing broad curricular themes, attributes of citizenship and overall commitment to learning
Division high schools may recognize one student for each award category.
The Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence was established to honour the Division’s longest-serving superintendent, Michael A. Strembitsky. It is given to the top three Grade 12 students who model inclusivity, leadership and compassion, and have demonstrated overall excellence.
At the May 28, 2024 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees acknowledged 19 amazing nominees for the Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence. The gold ($2,000), silver ($1,500) and bronze ($1,000) award winners were also announced.
- Gold medallion: Jules Ng, J. Percy Page School
- Silver medallion: Chelsea Kwon, Dr. Anne Anderson School
- Bronze medallion: Athena Annika Reyes, Victoria School

Michael A. Strembitsky Recipients Guide
We recognize outstanding high school students in six additional award categories for their academic skills, entrepreneurial spirit, artistic achievements, contributions to health and wellness or demonstrations of leadership and citizenship.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD
The Division Academic Excellence Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate overall exceptional academic achievement in a range of subjects in International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or Regular programming.

CAREER AND LIFE PATHWAYS AWARD
The Division Career and Life Pathways Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the following areas: Business, Administration, Finance and Information Technology (BIT), Health, Recreation and Human Services (HRH), Media, Design and Communication Arts (MDC), Natural Resources (NAT), Trades, Manufacturing and Transportation (TMT), and Career Transitions (CTR).

FINE ARTS AWARD
The Division Fine Arts Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the performing and visual arts, including subjects pertaining to music, art, dance and drama.

The Division Health and Wellness Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and/or model leadership in one or more of the following areas: Physical Education, School Athletics, Health and Life Skills and overall wellness, such as healthy life choices.

The Division Humanities Award is open to Grade 12 students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in one or more of the following subject areas: English, Social Studies, and Languages.
