Vimy Ridge Academy provides a rigorous, academic, flexible and student-centred program for students in Grades 7 to 12 with a focus on Sports Alternative Programming. Student-athletes turn their passion into performance on the field, on the ice, on the stage, and into successful careers and engaging lives.
Students pursue athletic skill development in programs such as Baseball, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Dance, Elite Athlete, Hockey, Lacrosse, Outdoor Pursuits, Ringette, Rugby, Soccer, Softball or Sport-Fit. We work with our formal partners to organize and deliver athletic programming. Our formal partners include the Academic and Athletic Development Institute of Edmonton, The Edmonton School of Ballet, the University of Alberta’s Green and Gold program and the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
We offer the Advanced Placement Program for learners who maintain high academic standings on top of their rigorous athletic commitments. The Individual Support Program is for medically fragile high school-aged students who live in south-central and southeast Edmonton. Each alternative program is administered under the supervision of a program director who works very closely with our administration to ensure both the academic and the athletic programming needs of each student are met. Parents are valued contributors to our school.
We hold students to our CORE values: Citizenship, Opportunity, Respect and Enthusiasm. These values ensure a safe, welcoming, caring and respectful learning environment that is inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging. We emphasize student leadership, citizenship, self-discipline, physical fitness and healthy active lifestyles. As exemplary citizens and leaders of tomorrow, our student-athletes are sought after by post-secondary institutions across North America.
