The Fairness and Safety in Sport Act, a Government of Alberta law, allows for a confidential challenge to be made if there’s a reason to believe an athlete is not eligible to play on a competitive female-only sports team. This process is handled confidentially and with privacy in mind.
The Division has identified the following applicants are eligible to submit a challenge:
To submit a challenge, an applicant who meets the criteria noted above, will need to fill out the Division’s Fairness and Safety in Sport Confidential Challenge Form. On the form, you'll be asked for information about yourself, including your name, school and contact details. You'll also need to provide the name of the athlete you are challenging and the reasons why you believe they were not of female sex at birth. This information will be used solely for the purpose of reviewing the challenge and will not be shared. Anonymous challenges will not be accepted.
Applicants will receive an automatic response confirming their submission has been received. The Division will review any submitted challenges and follow up within 30 days.
