Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack (Meadows) 10–12

Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School in the Meadows will open in September 2024. The school will offer Grades 10 and 11 in 2024–25, and add Grade 12 in 2025–26.

Registration and pre-enrolment update

For the 2024–2025 school year, we are full in planned classes in:

  • Grade 10 in the regular program
  • Grade 10 in the Advanced Placement program
  • Grade 11 in the regular program

We will no longer accept enrolment requests for Grade 10 in the Advanced Placement program. For the regular program, we will now only accept resident students in Grades 10 and 11 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area.

Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Impacted high school attendance areas

Changes to the attendance areas for both J. Percy Page School and W.P. Wagner School have also been approved by the Superintendent.

Open attendance area boundary

Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School is a Level 1 school on the Growth Control Model and will have an open boundary. This means:

  • Resident students in the attendance area would get first priority to fill available spaces in planned classes.
  • Students living outside the attendance area can attend if there’s space in planned classes once resident students from the attendance area are enrolled.
  • The school may go to random selection if the number of applicants exceeds available space.

For the 2024–25 school year, Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School will open with Grades 10 and 11 only. The school will offer Grades 10–12 for the 2025–26 school year.

GETTING TO SCHOOL

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is the preferred transportation method for high school students. However, if ETS is not available, eligible students attending their designated school may be able to apply for yellow bus service.

Check ETS schedules in the summer of 2024, when ETS trip plans are typically updated for service in September.

For questions about transportation, contact Student Transportation at 780-429-8585.

CHOOSING TO STAY AT YOUR CURRENT SCHOOL

Students may choose to stay at their current school. However, only students attending their designated school qualify for yellow bus service when ETS is unavailable.

HOW WE MADE THE DECISION

The Division uses your feedback to inform decisions that:

  • allow as many resident students as possible to attend a school close to home
  • ensure the school has room for resident students as the community grows
  • can allow students from outside the attendance area to attend through random selection, if the school has space
