New provincial curriculum in the 2026–27 school year

In September 2026, Grades 4 to 6 students will learn new provincial curriculum in social studies.
Preparing staff for success
We will continue to focus on preparing staff and setting students up for success in September. Educators will have professional learning opportunities in the summer and next school year, and access to new teaching and learning resources to support new curriculum implementation.
The Government of Alberta determines the new curriculum content and timelines for implementation. New curriculum is being developed and introduced in schools over a number of years.
