Are you interested in learning more about the impact social media and technology can have on young people? Do you want to understand what you can do to help protect your kids online? 

Sign up now for the next installments of our virtual presentation series–Raising Kids in a Digital World:

These online sessions will help you understand the risks your children face online, set boundaries and foster healthy digital habits.

Raising kids in a digital world: gaming and gambling

This presentation will cover:

  • how video games factor into young people’s social lives
  • the cognitive, social and emotional aspects of gaming
  • screen time, mental health, online safety and physical well-being
  • the impact of gaming on the developing brain
  • the risks of online gaming including problematic use, harmful content, stranger danger and radicalization
  • game design, including micro transactions, loot boxes and gambling concerns
  • what parents and guardians can do when gaming becomes problematic
  • the warning signs of internet gaming disorder (IGD) and when to seek help

Raising kids in a digital world: understanding and preventing online dangers

This presentation will cover:

  • an overview of potential online dangers
  • social risks, including the negative impacts of social media and cyberbullying on young people (for example, the impact they can have on body image)
  • grooming, sextortion, and online exploitation
  • how to identify and report suspicious online activity
  • how to educate children about the consequences of their online actions
  • developing an online safety plan for your family
  • the resources and support systems available to families
