Raising kids in a digital world: gaming and gambling
This presentation will cover:
- how video games factor into young people’s social lives
- the cognitive, social and emotional aspects of gaming
- screen time, mental health, online safety and physical well-being
- the impact of gaming on the developing brain
- the risks of online gaming including problematic use, harmful content, stranger danger and radicalization
- game design, including micro transactions, loot boxes and gambling concerns
- what parents and guardians can do when gaming becomes problematic
- the warning signs of internet gaming disorder (IGD) and when to seek help

Raising kids in a digital world: understanding and preventing online dangers
This presentation will cover:
- an overview of potential online dangers
- social risks, including the negative impacts of social media and cyberbullying on young people (for example, the impact they can have on body image)
- grooming, sextortion, and online exploitation
- how to identify and report suspicious online activity
- how to educate children about the consequences of their online actions
- developing an online safety plan for your family
- the resources and support systems available to families
