News item: Name that school!

Edmonton Public Schools needs your help naming a new high school (Grades 10-12) opening in southeast Edmonton in September 2024!

Naming a school is an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for our city, community and school. Schools are a central hub in the community, so it’s important that all Edmontonians have an opportunity to suggest a name.

We’re looking for names of:

  • people who have made a valuable contribution to education
  • people who have made a valuable contribution to the community at large
  • people who represent diversity in the community
  • significance to the community, including community names

* Please include relevant background information to support the name(s) you suggest.

Each school is unique and deserves a name that fits the community it’s located in and the generations of students it will serve. This is why we call for suggestions every time we have schools nearing the end of construction.

How you can suggest a name

Complete our online form or mail your suggestions to:

Infrastructure—Stakeholder Engagement
The Centre for Education
1 Kingsway NW
Edmonton, AB  T5H 4G9

Please include your contact information in case we need to follow up.

The deadline for suggestions is November 10, 2022.

What's next?

Edmonton Public Schools will consider all submissions before putting names forward for consideration by the Board of Trustees. Follow us on social media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) or check epsb.ca for updates on our new schools and the naming process.
