We’re excited to kick off another great school year! Whether you’re new to the Division or looking to brush up on important back-to-school information, you’re in the right place.
We understand there are many questions and uncertainty about the potential for labour action.
Members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) took a strike vote in the spring and have voted 95 per cent in favour of a strike. The union may serve a notice of strike action at any time within a 120-day period.
Before a strike can happen, the ATA must provide a minimum of 72 hours’ (three days) notice.
In Alberta, bargaining is handled provincially through the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), which is a corporation created by the Public Education Collective Bargaining Act. TEBA represents school boards in collective bargaining for all of Alberta’s public, separate, and Francophone teachers.
The teacher bargaining process involves three stages:
Right now, bargaining is in Stage 2 of the process.
We will update you as information becomes available.
The 2025–26 Division calendar has all the important dates you need to know for this school year, including:
SchoolZone is a secure website with important information about your child’s learning. Sign in to SchoolZone to find out more about:
If your child is new to the Division, your school will give you a parent username and password. If you already have an account, but cannot remember your sign-in credentials, contact your school directly for assistance.
SchoolMessenger is the Division’s urgent message system that can call and text you when there is an emergency at your child’s school, like a fire or evacuation. Learn more about SchoolMessenger, and sign up for text message alerts.
One of the most effective ways to keep one another healthy and safe is to stay home when sick. Families, students and staff are asked to monitor for symptoms of illness before coming to school and work. If your child is going to be away from school due to illness, it is important you let the school know.
The first days back to school are full of excitement, and students may not always be watching the road. As classes resume, we’re reminding all motorists to drive with extra caution.
Drivers are required to slow to 30 km/h in all playground zones from 7:30 a.m.–9 p.m. every day. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe.
Review all road safety reminders.
