Conducting Research with the Division

Edmonton Public Schools is interested in working with researchers to conduct high-quality research that supports teaching and learning.

All research involving Division students and/or staff must receive Division approval before data gathering activities can begin.

How to submit your proposal

All researchers seeking to conduct research within Edmonton Public Schools must submit proposals directly to the Division:

  1. Complete the research proposal application form.
  2. Email the completed form and any supporting documents to research@epsb.ca.

University of Alberta Researchers

Beginning July 1, 2025, University of Alberta researchers will submit their proposals directly to EPSB Research, following the Division's standard research application process.

Through this process, the Division will maintain the established partnership with the University of Alberta’s Cooperative Activities Program (CAP). CAP will continue to serve as a support resource, and University of Alberta researchers may contact CAP for guidance as needed.  

Please note: To support the processing of research applications, information submitted to the EPSB Research Team may be shared with the University of Alberta’s Cooperative Activities Program (CAP) office in compliance with privacy legislation.

Administrative Regulation

Conducting Research within the Division (IQ.AR) is the administrative regulation that guides how to conduct research and distribute surveys within the Division.
