Yellow busing eligibility for next school year

The province recently revised transportation eligibility for students in Alberta. Starting in the 2026–27 school year, there will be some changes to who qualifies for yellow bus service.

Students attending their designated school may be eligible for transportation service if they are:

• in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and live at least 1.6 kilometres away.

There are no changes for students in Grades 7 to 12.

If you believe your child’s eligibility has changed, your school will work with you to determine options for transportation. 

Apply for yellow bus service by June 1

All school maps will be updated to show revised transportation service areas. Find your school’s profile page to see bus service area maps.

If you believe your child is eligible, apply online for yellow bus service by June 1, 2026 so you’re ready for the first day of the 2026–27 school year.
