Michael Janz lives to promote education, literacy and community. A two-term Trustee, he is passionate about the importance of public education. In November 2013, Michael was elected Vice President of the Alberta School Boards’ Association to advocate on behalf of all locally elected school boards. Michael is the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
He holds a Masters in Educational Policy Studies (Administration and Leadership) and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History from the University of Alberta. Prior to being re-elected, he worked as the marketing director of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues. As an undergraduate he served as President of the University of Alberta Students' Union. Michael also served on the University of Alberta's Board of Governors and currently serves on the Edmonton Public Library Board.
In November 2012, he was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service as was selected as one of Edmonton's "Top 40 under 40.” You can follow him on twitter @michaeljanz.
