Academic Alternative

Program Description

Academic Alternative programming supports motivated students with above-average performance. Students may display an early interest in post-secondary studies and a desire to develop their leadership skills.

Goals

  • Develop academic skills in a challenging learning environment that may involve accelerated learning
  • Foster critical thinking, citizenship and leadership skills
  • Prepare students for post-secondary studies and lifelong learning

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must be:

  • enrolled in Grades 7 to 12
  • participate in an application process
  • meet entrance requirements

Alberta curriculum

All Edmonton Public Schools programming is based on curriculum determined by Alberta Education. Students enrolled in the Academic Alternative will receive the same high-quality education offered in all of our programs.
