Eligibility and Conditional Riders

DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR YELLOW BUS SERVICE

Eligibility for yellow bus service is determined by where a student lives. Find your designated school by entering your home address into the Find a School tool.

Students attending their designated school may be eligible for yellow bus service if they are:

  • in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and live at least one kilometre away, or
  • in Grades 7 to 12 and live at least two kilometres away and Edmonton Transit (ETS) is not available.

CONDITIONAL RIDERS

Conditional riders are students who are not eligible for regular or alternative program yellow bus service but request to ride on an existing route if there is space on the bus.

2024–25 school year

Apply to be a conditional rider for next year by completing the 2024–25 yellow bus service application form.

After you apply

Conditional rider applicants are considered and assigned to a bus route only after all eligible students have already been assigned. Most conditional applicants are approved before the school year begins, but some may be approved as late as October. Alternate transportation plans should be made in case a conditional rider applicant is not approved or approved after the school year begins.

Conditional riders are not permitted to ride on curb service buses.
