Sports Alternative programming enables student athletes to participate in rigorous sports training routines while remaining on track with their academic goals.

Academic classes scheduled for part of the day or week with sports training scheduled for the remainder of the day or week
Athletic and sport training by certified coaches

Shadow Days to provide prospective students with a first-hand experience in the program

The Division provides academic instruction and partner organizations provide sports training at a cost to parents. Current partnerships with Vimy Ridge Academy and Donnan schools include:
University of Alberta's Green and Gold Soccer Academy -soccer training
Fees
Students enrolled in Sports Alternative pay additional fees to cover extra costs such as equipment, transportation and facility rentals. Contact a school offering Sports Alternative for more information.
Eligibility
To be eligible, students must:
be in Grades 3 - 12
have sports experience, or be involved in sports training or competitions.

Alberta curriculum
All Edmonton Public Schools programming is based on curriculum determined by Alberta Education. Students enrolled in Sports Alternative will receive the same high-quality education offered in all of our programs.
Transportation
Grade 3 to Grade 6 - Some yellow busing options are available.
Grade 7 to 12 -Edmonton Transitis the preferred method of transportation.
