Academic Enrichment
Program Description
Academic Enrichment programming provides a rigorous academic experience for students driven to learn and seek challenges.
GOALS
- Develop academic skills in a challenging and enriched learning environment
- Demonstrate a deeper understanding of the core subjects
- Foster authentic, real-world applications of learning and develop a sense of global citizenship
- Prepare students for high school and post-secondary studies
BENEFITS
- Improved ability to manage rigorous coursework
- Development of academic skills and enriched knowledge
- Development of skills required for communication, creativity, critical thinking, innovation and leadership
- Preparation for Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate high school courses
- Preparation for post-secondary and lifelong learning
PROGRAM DELIVERY
- Challenging academic environment that encourages student engagement, experimentation and intellectual risk-taking
- Emphasis on research-based teaching approaches, learning strategies and real-world applications
- Participation in community service activities to understand cultural and global issues
- Parental support and commitment are encouraged
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for this programming, students must be:
- enrolled in Grades 7 to 9
- motivated to achieve and enjoy challenges
- demonstrating above-average academic achievement
- recommended to the program by their current school, in consultation with their parents

ALBERTA CURRICULUM
All Edmonton Public Schools programming is based on curriculum determined by Alberta Education. Students enrolled in Academic Enrichment will receive the same high-quality education available in all of our programs.
