Students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 have the opportunity to discover careers through the Community Marketplace. Much more than a typical guest speaker, career fair or career day, the Community Marketplace is a collaboration between teachers and community organizations to provide authentic and meaningful career exploration for students.
The Community Marketplace allows teachers to book grade-specific interactive presentations for their classrooms. These opportunities both encourage and challenge students to make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and the world around them.
This initiative, along with many others, is supported through Career Pathways at Edmonton Public Schools. Read more about the Community Marketplace in Careering magazine.
If your organization is interested in sharing your passion and expertise with students, we would love to hear from you. A Career Pathways consultant will work with you to ensure a connection to what students are learning in the classroom, schedule presentations and more. Email careerpathways@epsb.ca to get in touch.
During the 2021–22 school year, we had a total of 210 interactive presentations to schools across the Division, reaching an audience of more than 7,000 students. We’re so grateful to the 56 community organizations that joined us. They are listed under each of the five career pathways.
