Are you a parent, community member or part of an organization willing to share your perspective on how to address anti-racism and equity in schools? Edmonton Public Schools is seeking your voice as a volunteer on our Equity Advisory Committee over the next two years.
All parents and community members are encouraged to apply to the committee. We will give additional consideration to applicants who are Black, Indigenous or People of Colour.
Apply by May 15, 2022 to share your voice in this important work.
The committee will offer perspectives and advice on the Division’s efforts to raise awareness of and take action on systemic racism and inequity in our schools. For the 2021–22 school year, we plan to:
Visit our anti-racism and equity page to learn more about the Anti-Racism and Equity Action Plan for the 2021–22 school year and the Board of Trustees’ policy on anti-racism and equity, which will be central to the work of this committee.
We are filling 24 volunteer positions on our Equity Advisory Committee:
Division staff will be part of the committee, as needed, to facilitate and support the discussion and work of members. In addition, two Division staff members will co-chair the committee.
Committee members will be chosen at the discretion of Division administration. Interviews may be arranged to help with the selection process.
Members are asked to commit to a two-year term, starting in June 2022. They will attend three meetings per year.
Meetings will be held either virtually or in person, based on public health guidance at the time.
