News item: Learn to ride the bus safely at First Riders

If your child will take the bus for the first time this fall, join us at the Edmonton Expo Centre for First Riders! This free event is on Thursday, August 22. Both afternoon and evening sessions are available.

WHAT IS FIRST RIDERS?

First Riders is an annual event that gives students and their parents a chance to get comfortable riding the bus before the first day of school.

WHO’S IT FOR?

First Riders is for:

  • Pre-Kindergarten children and Kindergarten students
  • Other students who are taking the yellow bus for the first time
  • Grade 7 students transitioning to Edmonton Transit Service
  • Anyone who needs a refresher

WHERE WILL IT BE?

Edmonton Expo Centre, south lot
112 Avenue NW and Wayne Gretzky Drive NW.

EVENING

Families attending evening sessions may wait longer.

First Riders has been giving new bus riders confidence for the first day of school since 2005.

This yearly event is hosted by:

  • Edmonton Public Schools
  • Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord
  • Edmonton Catholic Schools
  • Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) and bus contractors in the Edmonton area
