Hockey Helps Kids is back for another year and local kids need your votes. The competition creates a friendly rivalry between four schools -- two from Edmonton Public Schools and two from Edmonton Catholic Schools -- to raise money for local charities and teach students about social responsibility and community outreach.
John D. Bracco and Highlands schools are participating this year, and they’ve each drafted a ringer from the Oilers to help them reach their goals. Connor McDavid is captain of the Highlands team, supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
John D. Bracco is captained by Milan Lucic, in support of the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton.
Right now, the two teams from Edmonton Public Schools are in third and fourth place. Let’s give them our support and help them rise in the rankings! If you don’t know a hockey puck from a horseshoe, don’t worry. You don’t need to know a thing about hockey to help out. You just need to visit hockeyhelpskids.com, watch the videos, and vote for the school and charity you support.
Voting is open until February 15. The Oilers will donate $25,000 to the winning school’s chosen charity, and the three runners-up will each have $10,000 donated to their charities.
