Grade 5, 6 and 7 students from Mee-Yah-Noh, Norwood, Spruce Avenue, Delton and John A. McDougall schools flexed their creative muscles on February 20 and 21 at Story Avenue, held at the Centre for Education. Presented by the Young Alberta Book Society, Story Avenue is a young writers’ workshop. Ten local authors and illustrators teach small writing workshops for around 400 students. This free program also provides each student writer with a nutritious snack and a complementary book by one of the student’s workshop instructors. Sponsors included Telus, City of Edmonton, Edmonton Arts Council, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Government of Alberta, TD and Kiwanis Club.
