News item: Help shape the future of inclusive education

If you’re a parent or community member who is passionate about special education, come help us build the inclusive system we envision for Edmonton Public Schools.

We’re filling three vacancies on our Inclusive Education Parent and Community Advisory Committee and are accepting applications until 4 p.m. on December 4, 2020. Let’s work together to help provide a welcoming, inclusive school experience for all children.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Our Inclusive Education Parent and Community Advisory Committee is made up of 10 community members and three representatives from Division administration.

The committee helps the Division strengthen its inclusive education system by:

  • enhancing how the Division's Inclusive Education policy and regulations are put into practice
  • providing information and advice to Division administrators
  • working to bring Alberta Education’s Principles of Inclusive Education to life in our classrooms

Committee members are expected to:

  • serve a three-year term
  • attend three early evening meetings, which will be held online this year

WHO CAN JOIN?

Three candidates will be chosen to fill vacancies on the committee, and additional applicants may be asked to fill positions that open up throughout the year. We seek a balanced representation of:

  • parents with children currently attending Division schools, and
  • other interested community members

APPLY

Complete the application form by 4 p.m. on December 4, 2020.
