Join our Inclusive Education Advisory Committee

If you’re a parent or community member who is passionate about special education, come help us build the inclusive system we envision for our District. We’re filling five vacancies on our Inclusive Education Parent and Community Advisory Committee and are accepting applications until 4 p.m. on September 23, 2019. Let’s work together to help provide a welcoming, inclusive school experience for all children.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Our Inclusive Education Parent and Community Advisory Committee is made up of 10 members of the public and two representatives from District administration.

The committee helps the District strengthen its inclusive education system by:

enhancing how the District’s Inclusive Education policy and regulations are put into practice
providing information and advice to District administrators
working to bring Alberta Education’s Principles of Inclusive Education to life in our classrooms

Committee members are expected to:

serve a three-year term
attend three early evening meetings at the Centre for Education each year

WHO CAN JOIN?

Five candidates will be chosen to fill vacancies on the committee, and additional applicants may be asked to fill positions that open up throughout the year. Committee members are chosen at the discretion of District administration, which seeks a balanced representation of:

parents with children currently attending District schools, and
other interested community members

Interviews may be arranged to help with the selection process.
