Division to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 29

Fri, 24 Sep, 2021

News item: Division to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 29

In June, the Government of Canada passed legislation declaring September 30 as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day provides Canadians an opportunity to reflect and learn the truth of residential schools, as well as to honour the survivors and children who died.

As Division schools and buildings will be closed on September 30, we will honour this important day on September 29.

WEAR ORANGE ON SEPTEMBER 29

Schools will recognize the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day by:

  • participating virtually in a Division event on September 29
  • encouraging students and staff to wear orange at school on September 29
  • participating in Orange Shirt Day activities

Talk to your school to find out more about what they have planned to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
