Kim Hung and Shauna May Seneca school openings moved to January 2018

Kim Hung School and Shauna May Seneca School students will have new schools to attend on September 5, 2017, the first day of the new school year, as planned. The big changes are that Kim Hung and Shauna May Seneca schools' students will attend host schools until the winter break because of construction delays at both schools.
- Kim Hung School staff and students will be hosted at the nearby Michael Phair School.
- Shauna May Seneca School staff and students will be hosted at the nearby Jan Reimer School.
After the winter break on January 8, 2018, the students and staff will move together to their permanent location and carry on with the rest of the year.
SCHOOL-WITHIN-A-SCHOOL
During the short time, Kim Hung and Shauna May Seneca students and staff are at their host schools, they will have:
- their own space for classes just like they would at their own school buildings
- opportunities to work with their principal and teachers
- opportunities to socialize with their friends, and make new ones
The principals and teachers of the four schools involved will do everything they can to make the students feel comfortable and the move to the new schools as smooth as possible after the winter break.
GRADES OFFERED
Kim Hung and Shauna May Seneca schools will offer:
- Kindergarten to Grade 7 in 2017-2018
- Kindergarten to Grade 8 in 2018-2019
- Kindergarten to Grade 9 in 2019-2020
ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY
Jan Reimer, Kim Hung, Michael Phair and Shauna May Seneca schools will all have closed boundaries for the 2017-2018 school year. This means the schools will only accept students in their primary attendance area.

YELLOW BUS SERVICE AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL-CARE
To help affected families, Edmonton Public Schools will provide yellow bus service to any Kim Hung and Shauna May Seneca students who need it at no cost. We are also looking into out-of-school care options.

Because 11 new schools are still under construction, you can submit a completed registration form for any of these new schools, including Kim Hung or Shauna May Seneca, at any District school. Learn more about registering a new student and examples of accepted documentation.
