Pre-Kindergarten builds children's strengths and skills in a playful, language-rich environment. This program supports children who have developmental delays, have a first language other than English, or identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.
UPDATE: In March, families attended sessions to learn more about Pre-Kindergarten and find out if their child is eligible for programming. These sessions are now over. Learn more about Pre-Kindergarten program eligibility.
Screening sessions are open to all families with a child who is not in the process of being formally assessed or diagnosed by a healthcare professional. Parents with children who have a first language other than English, identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, or think their child may benefit from extra support before starting school are encouraged to attend a screening session.
During a screening session, using toys, books and fun activities, a Speech Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist evaluate your child to help us figure out if your child is eligible for Pre-Kindergarten.
Contact one of the Pre-Kindergarten program schools to learn more and sign up for one of our screening session dates. Please only attend one screening session.
If you attend a screening session, you do not need to attend an information session.
Information sessions are for families with a child who is in the process of being formally assessed or diagnosed by a healthcare professional. If your child has a report (dated after March 1, 2017) from Alberta Health Services or is scheduled to receive an assessment after March 1, you are invited to attend an information session to find out if your child is eligible for Pre-Kindergarten in the upcoming school year.
Contact one of our Pre-Kindergarten locations to learn more and sign up for an information session in your area. Please sign up for one session only.
If you attend an information session, you do not need to attend a screening session.
