Update on School Resource Officer Program Review

In December 2020, our Division issued a request for proposals (RFP) from organizations to conduct an evaluative study of our School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Trustees passed a motion at the June 23, 2020 Board meeting to conduct an independent review of the SRO program. 

The Division’s RFP for School Resource Officer (SRO) Program Research, made publicly available on the Alberta government’s Alberta Purchasing Connection website, closed on January 18, 2021. Two submissions were received, which were reviewed by a panel who determined that neither submission met the requirements of the RFP. 

NEXT STEPS 

The panel reviewed and revised the RFP to provide more clarity around expectations for respondents. To ensure an open and fair process, the Division reissued the RFP on the Alberta Purchasing Connection website on March 15, 2021. The deadline for submissions is April 26, 2021.

The Youth Enhanced Deployment model remains in place for this school year and plans for next year are in development.
