As part of Eastglen School's football team involvement with Nissan’s Back in the Game program, the players and coaching staff are being flown out, at no charge, to attend the Grey Cup.
Eastglen's football program has a long history, with a team competing every year since the school opened since 1954. Unfortunately, for the past two years, the school was unable to have 12 man football squad, so they played six man football instead.
This year, Nissan supported the school with supplies and equipment valued at over $25,000, including jerseys, helmets, practice equipment and a new equipment room. The powerful Back in the Game web series profiles Eastglen School students and their football program through their most recent season.
On Friday afternoon, the team, their coaching staff led by head coach Kent Anderson and a group of volunteers will be flying to Vancouver on the newly unveiled CFL jet to take part in the Grey Cup activities.
On Saturday, the team will play a Hamilton high school team in an exhibition game and take part in some mini camps run by some CFL pros. Three of Eastglen students will be interviewed on TSN and the 30 minute Nissan documentary featuring the school will be aired. The team and their coaches will also attend some special pre-Grey Cup activities Saturday evening. On Sunday, the team will participate in a Nissan Tailgate Party and then attend the Grey Cup game.
